Book Signings and More!

Me and Moses at Kids Ink

My first two signings were loads of fun! The first, at Kids Ink in Indianapolis on Sept. 19th, included a little reading and lots of signing of both Monster Trucks and Peter, the Knight with Asthma. The place was packed, and I was honored to share the day with veteran authors Rebecca Kai Dotlich and Lola Schaefer.

On Sept. 27th I participated in the 4th birthday celebration of The Wild kids' bookstore in Noblesville, IN. I took along my guitar and sandwiched my reading of Peter between two songs. The crowd sang and danced along nicely, and afterward I was honored to meet and sign. Fellow authors for the day were Ashley Ransburg and Kaza Kingsley, and local artist Tracy Buckingham exhibited her young students' artwork.

"Who's been to the doctor before?"

Many thanks to all of you who stopped by, and to Kids Ink and The Wild! I feel like a real author now. :)

Book Signing Sept. 19th

My first book signing takes place this Saturday, Sept. 19th, from 11-12 at Kids Ink children's bookstore, 5619 Illinois Street here in Butler-Tarkington. I'll be appearing along with two much more experienced authors (thank goodness), Rebecca Kai Dotlich and Lola Schaefer, who also write poetry and picture books for the preschool/young elementary set. Hope to see you there!

(My next signing is Sunday afternoon, Sept. 27th, at The Wild children's bookstore in Noblesville. More details to follow)

Just heard from my editor that my new picture book, PETER, THE KNIGHT WITH ASTHMA, was released today. It will be available online and at stores any day now! The story features an imaginative boy who plays at knights and dragons, only to be thwarted by asthma...with help from his doctor, Peter learns how to win against both asthma and those pesky dragons. My son's pediatric pulmonologist wrote an informative afterword for the book. Anthony Lewis, a British illustrator, brings the story into endearing, colorful action. This story has great meaning for me, as my three kids and husband are all asthma sufferers/conquerors. I'm looking forward to sharing the book around Indianapolis and elsewhere in coming months!

March 2009 at Kids Ink

Signing for my preschool buddy, Matthew

Yippee! My first book, a preschool lift-flap called MONSTER TRUCKS, was released in February of 2009. What fun to visit my local children’s bookstore, Kids Ink at 5619 Illinois Street in Indy, and find several familiar little people clutching copies of the book. We had ourselves an impromptu book signing, and I learned to always carry a Sharpie in my bag.
